Looking for a job involves identifying vacancies – this can be done by :
- Letting friends and relatives know what you are looking for.
- Networking through clubs and organisations.
- Looking online- FMPJOBS
- Looking in newspapers and other publications.
When looking online you can access vacancies though job search sites or you can go to the site of a company you want to work for and see if they have vacancies advertised.
You can approach employers directly – this is called cold calling and is accessing a hidden job market of positions that may not be advertised.
You can also use Group Training Companies to access apprenticeship vacancies.
Once you have found a vacancy to apply for you may need to read a position description and submit a resume and application letter and then attend an interview.
